I admit I'm too pessimistic. I of course agree that it would be great
if we could get a consensus on a single behavior by the reopened
discussion. However, I would just like to point out that all the
discussion so far has already been raised, and the fact was that those
argument could not convince the people who have other opinions.
Itojun's bugtraq report is a good summary, but it still basically was
in the past discussion, which, again, could not convince everyone.
Yes, I admit that the fact we once failed on something does not mean
we'll fail in the future. If you have a good enough point to make a
unified consensus, it would be really great.

Agreed, but that's the reality, unfortunately, as far as I understand
the issue.
Sorry for the negative opinions. I do not intend to discourage people
aiming to an ideal goal. I'll be silent on this particular topic...
