Here is a strange one for IM: I am using IM internally with a private address. I have NAT running on a firewall and have an external client. The client can sign in just fine. The users in their personal contacts are grey with a question mark. The users in the groups I have created show up correctly with a smiley face if they are logged on. If I attempt to chat from the outside to a user that is configured in a public contact and shows online, they get the message but they cannot reply to me. If I close that message box and let them initiate a chat to me (I show up as online), then we can talk.
Strange! I know IPSwitch is working on a fix in this direction. Please consider using me as a test site if necessary. Having it run through a firewall utilizing NAT is critical for me.
