Raul,

Are you able to connect using the IIM client installed on the IIM Server?  The part after the @ should resolve to the IP of the IIM Server.  To make sure this isn't a DNS issue you may want to add an entry to the host file to see if this corrects the issue.

It was a typo regarding port “5277”, it is in fact 5177 that’s open

Regarding the persistent connection – I already had it set that way.  I went into the client PC’s registry and set the client to use persistent connections as well.

This is why I am frustrated, I have looked through the help file, KB, and have tried everything possible to figure this out.  I know that a LAN connection exists and its working fine because the Imail server sits on the same machine as the IM server.

Check port 5177 you have 5277 open

continual attempts mean there is no connectivity...You can use Nat'd addresses but make sure you force the persistent connections at the server...

The Log (below) does not show anything out of the ordinary (as far as I can tell) other than the configuration settings; It loads this configuration approximately every 3 hours.

As for the logon, it continues to attempt to logon, retrying until I cancel the logon attempt

Both port 5277, and 5178 permit TCP traffic in.  The firewall ACL does not point directly to the server IP, it points to the LAN 10.0.0.0 and the mask is setup as 255.0.0.0; Does it have to point directly to the server?

Thanks,

Raul

First question I need to ask is what does happen when you try to login? What do the server logs show? Is the IM server open to the outside? Ports 5177 and 5178 need to be open for communication

Subject: [IpswitchIM_Forum] IM Client logon issue

I am a current user of Imail server (8.14), and decided to try out ICS.  So far the server is working fine, albeit I did run into some LDAP issue which was resolved via reinstalling the server.  The problem I am having is with IM, though.  The server installs fine, and I am using the Imail server database for user authentication.  The problem is that the client does not login.  I have tried the following:

§  The latest patch (2.02) does not install on the machine (message states that old file cannot be found)

§  Used the FQDN, as well as the alias as a login

§  Setup a user in the IM server database

§  Reinstalled client and IM server several times (stopped and started services with every change as well)

§  Client is installed on both a W2K and XP Pro machines

§  IM server is installed on the same server as Imail server

§  Server is an HP TC2120, 1.2GB RAM, W2K Server

§  Server sits in the same LAN as PDC and client machines

I really need to know if this will work before the trial period runs out.  I have sent a couple of emails to support, but have not heard anything back

I have looked through the online forum, but the suggestions have not worked either.

Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance for your assistance
