Forcing network design on people as a workaround is not a way forward. What if the L2 domains have to live inside L3VPN? What if you want to support netflow? There are many reasons not to use such network design/devices.

Unless these reasons come up and are documented, and they can't be solved in other manners, things aren't going to change. I have only been active in the IETF for a few years, but I have understood enough by now that unless you come with good reasons, things are not going to change. Sitting there basically screaming "I WANT TO HAVE DEFAULT GATEWAY SUPPORT IN DHCPv6, AND IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEN YOU'RE NARROWMINDED AND STUPID" isn't going to get you anywhere.

I am not asking these questions to be mean, I'm asking them to bring out all the reasons so someone will document them so they can be presented in a coherent consise manner (for instance an I-D). I know I have to do this when I want things to change. Been there, done that.
