I am sure Patrick as well as all the hams on this list know already, but the quick explanation of signal strength readings is that decibels work on an exponential scale (technically it's a logorhythmic scale but they are somewhat similar), 3db = 2X, 6db=4X 9db=8X, 10db = 10X, 20 db = 100X. At 55DB over S9, that would be approximately 400,000 times stronger than an S9 signal. Hang in there, it takes a while to learn all this.
