Steve, A few years ago, I devoted a considerable amount of time to DXing the Graveyard Channels, and found it frustrating, maddening, and ultimately, rewarding. This is a truly amazing reception, and you should be proud of your efforts.
Take it from the “Gravedigger”. 73, Les Rayburn, N1LF Les Rayburn, Director High Noon Film 130 1st Avenue West Alabaster, AL 35007-8536 (205) 621-7500 (205) 621-7505 FAX (205) 253-4867 CELL http://www.highnoonfilm.com From: Steve Ratzlaff Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2010 12:23 PM To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America Subject: [IRCA] 1400 Graveyard listening for the newbie As almost everyone probably knows, I am anything but a domestic AM DXer. Several days ago Paul Walker made a request for anyone hearing several stations. Since one was 100 miles away I figured it would be an easy listen, just tune there and have at it. How wrong I was! Not being previously remotely knowledgable about signals on 1400, I have become much better acquainted the past 3 days and I admit it's been interesting and even enjoyable. And I have only heard 1400 KJDY once so far, a brief fadeup with mentions of John Day (Oregon). The farthest has been KEYL, MN "Real Country" which faded up briefly this morning. Others have been KQMS, CA; KRPL, ID; KSPT/KBFI, ID; KBCK, MT; KQDJ, ND; KBCH, OR; KLCK, WA/OR; KEDO, WA; KODI, WY. A SS station has been heard several times but no chance for an ID. It's interesting that the best time is early morning for several hours. So far I haven't pulled any audio out of the continuous jumble of stations mixing together at night. 73, Steve NE Oregon AR7030, R75, longwires _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected] _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
