Hello All,
As others have reported, it was an excellent morning for Asian TP signals,
especially from China and Korea. Since this particular location seems to favor
those parts of Asia anyway, the signals showing up here this morning were some
of the best received in years.
738-BEL2 in Taiwan was the star of the morning with a monster fade-in from
1324-1330, bringing with it a fair-level Mainland Chinese co-channel at times.
The signal from 738-Taiwan (with its male Chinese-hosted call-in talk program)
was the strongest heard here since the 2009 season, and came close to pegging
the PL-380's S/N display. 1143-Taiwan also was in at a fair level around 1338,
managing its best-ever signals here with female Chinese speech (not parallel to
738, though, and running the BEL3 program). 1134-JOQR made its first
appearance of the new season at 1342 with the same "frantic JJ" reported by
Nick (at 1305), along with the KBS co-channel also reported by Nick. The Asian
big guns on 594, 747, 774, 828, 972 1053, 1566 and 1575 were all vibrant here,
with the 1053-Korean Jammer managing to peg the PL-380 S/N display for the
first time this year.
Despite the Chinese trend a fair level 603-HLSA pretty much had the frequency
to itself this morning, although 639, 756, 927, 936, 981, 1017, 1035 and 1044
all had fair-level Chinese audio in and out at times. As reported earlier a
Mainland Chinese co-channel showed up with 738-Taiwan around 1323, the first
time that's happened here for a couple of years. In summary it was a pretty
wild morning here, with second-tier Chinese TP's coming out of the woodwork all
over the band-- hopefully an indication of a great DX season in the works!
