Saul, I'm with you.  It's sure sounding like "WJNA", "WJMA", or (least likely)
"WJMH".  I'm listening to these three clips over and over and over, and I'm not
hearing anything that sounds like "WJMC" or "WJIM".

On clip #1, I'm hearing the calls, followed by something that sounds like
"CAAT" (?).  Then AC/DC's "Moneytalks" starts up, and at the very end, you hear
someone say "all news, all the time...", and then it gets cut off.  Not sure if
that's from your mystery station or not, though.

On clip #2, after the ID, you start to hear talk from someone that sounds to me
like Mark Levin.  That could be key in IDing whoever this is.

What you most likely have is a VERY recent call change.  I'm going through back
issues of DX News at the moment to see if anything shows up in any DX columns.

Subject: [NRC-AM] 1240 unID - WJMA/WJNA now heard three times!

I continue to be stumped by what’s become a repeated, three-time unID on 1240.
Each time, it sounds like WJNA or WJMH, or something akin to that. The closts
calls I can find are WJMC in Rice Lake WI, a location which makes sense for
this time. But the last letter really does not – to me at least – sound like a
C either time. It sounds to me like A. Or perhaps H.

The first time I posted from a Dec 5 reception five of you responded:

Barry McLarnon wrote: “I agree it sounds like WJMH or WJMA, and is that another
call given just after it, something like WADW? All of which sheds no light
whatsoever on the mystery.”

Paul Walker wrote: “Thing is, it doesn’t sound like WJMC or WJMH or WJMA... but
WJMC is the closest sound alike to what i heard and searching all 1240's and
sorting by call letters, it's the most likely.”

George Sherman wrote: “I listened to the recording & am 100% positive they are
saying WJMC (Rice Lake, WI), which is heard here all day.”

Problem is, my ears simply can’t hear a C at the end. However, since Dec 5 I
have had two more receptions, both on Dec 16 but at different times. Each time,
the last letter sounded to me like A. So I’m putting this out here one more
time before I check into the DX den with the pink padded walls.

John in CO wrote suggesting WJLX in Jasper AL (it sounded to him like WJLS).
Russ Edmunds wrote that it sounded like WJLE. I can hear WJLE if I try...
especially the L. But nothing checks out in the way of listed stations.

So now that I have two extra clips, three in total, to work with, I'm posting
all in one place for those who want to give this ongoing mystery a spin.

Three audio clips online at:

http://forums.wtfda.org/showthread.php?8644

Maybe it's my ears, maybe it's a recent call change, maybe...

With thanks,
