Go ahead and use your logo for the time being.

Guys,

Logos are very important, and it is one of the first things people will see of us. We need to make more of an effort to create something that reflects our project (or to have explore it fully even if we return to the original material.

Have a look at other projects to see how logos are used (there are lots of bad ones as well as some really good ones). Also have a look at site like these: http://logopond.com/.

I know none of use are good at this graphic stuff but here are some articles that might help:-
  http://www.ideabook.com/tutorials/logo_design/stepbystep_logo.html
  http://www.ideabook.com/tutorials/logo_design/create_a_clip_art_logo.html

When we have an array of ideas then we can find someone with the requisite skills to do a production drawing.

Regards
Rob

Hey Dan...

Sure I will do. I will do it by Sat 23 Oct 2010.

Thanks!

By the way - I hope it's okay - the site has a banner which uses the first logo idea. I know we haven't called a formal vote, but we do have about 4 votes for it, so it looks like it would be the clear winner.

I did though unilaterally decide on a font for "Apache Isis", which was presumptious of me. Just pointing out that I know it was, if anyone objects to the font I've chosen then very happy to do so.
