July 26, 2012

KUANTAN: Two civil servants who were robbing a cyber cafe ended up running away
in shock after the husband of their victim showed up and turned the tables on
them.

State CID liaison officer ASP Noor Asyikin Shamsuri said the man chased the
machete-wielding suspects and hit one of them with a steel pipe.

"The suspects aged 22 and 24-years-old had walked into the cyber caf at Lorong
Tun Ismail here at about 3.40am Thursday and told the 24-year-old shop
assistant to hand over the money.

her cellphone and some money from her pockets," said ASP Noor Asyikin at the
state police headquarters Thursday.

arrived shortly afterwards.

"He reached for a steel pipe and gave chase. The suspects tried to escape in
their car but dropped the key when they were hit repeatedly. They just ran away
leaving their car behind," said ASP Noor Asyikin.

She said several policemen rushed to the scene when they received a distress
call at about 4am .

"The policemen found two identification cards in the car. They patrolled the
area and found the suspects hiding beside a hotel at Jalan Bukit Ubi at about
4.30am.

"The 22-year-old suspect's head and left arm were bruised and lacerated," said
ASP Noor Asyikin, adding that the suspects were promptly arrested and taken to
Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan for treatment.

She said the case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal
