One of the eaisest ways to ensure you have the latest XPUs is to get the manual upgrader (its on the ISS downloads site).
Put the upgrader in the C:\Program Files\ISS\SiteProtector\Application Server\XPU directory (your directory may vary, of course.) Then whenever you download updates via the manual upgrader - they will be placed into the correct place for your SP console to pick them up and allow you to install them. _____________________________________ Andrew Plato, CISSP President / Principal Consultant ANITIAN ENTERPRISE SECURITY Your Expert Partner for Security & Networking 3800 SW Cedar Hills Blvd, Suite 280 Beaverton, OR 97005 503-644-5656 Office 503-214-8069 Fax 503-201-0821 Mobile www.anitian.com _____________________________________ PGP/GPG public key available at: http://www.anitian.com/corp/keys.htm -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Burks, Kevin W CTR DISA SPI Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2006 8:09 AM To: issforum@iss.net Subject: Re: [ISSForum] New install Thanks, I believe I have it figured out except I'm running into a problem attempting to update my Database Service packs. I think the updates themselves still come from https://www.iss.net <https://www.iss.net> . I am learning everything on the fly having worked with RealSecure for awhile, this implementation hasn't been too terrible but I have a couple of problems that some might be able to shed light on rather quickly. Sorry if they are noob questions. 1. My X-press Update Server doesnt seem to be working, I have it tied to an Agent Manager and have it pointed to www.iss.net:443 <http://www.iss.net:443 <http://www.iss.net:443> > server but the updates don't seem to work. The catalog doesnt seem to be updating. Are there some firewall ports that need to be opened outbound besides port 443?? 2. I am installing 4 sensors. 3 of them do seem to get the updates that I have but 1 just doesnt want to take updates. I log into the sensor and see the xpu it's trying to download but it has a byte count of 0. What would cause the sensor not to receive the update properly?? So far these are the only 2 issues I've run into. Probably a simple fix but if anyone could shed some light, I'd appreciate it! -- Kevin Burks DISANet - Sr. Network Engineer [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ ISSForum mailing list ISSForum@iss.net TO UNSUBSCRIBE OR CHANGE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, go to https://atla-mm1.iss.net/mailman/listinfo/issforum <https://atla-mm1.iss.net/mailman/listinfo/issforum> To contact the ISSForum Moderator, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The ISSForum mailing list is hosted and managed by Internet Security Systems, 6303 Barfield Road, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30328. _______________________________________________ ISSForum mailing list ISSForum@iss.net TO UNSUBSCRIBE OR CHANGE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, go to https://atla-mm1.iss.net/mailman/listinfo/issforum To contact the ISSForum Moderator, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The ISSForum mailing list is hosted and managed by Internet Security Systems, 6303 Barfield Road, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30328. _________________________________________________ NOTICE: This email may contain confidential information, and is for the sole use of the intended recipient.
