Vihang Karajgaonkar commented on IMPALA-9337:
---------------------------------------------

Yes, the word synchronized table was suggested to me by members of Kudu
community during the review process. Although, I don't think there is any such
concrete thing. I think it means that operations in Impala, HMS and Kudu are
executed in sync so that all three of them view the same metadata about the
table. See https://kudu.apache.org/docs/hive_metastore.html#metadata_sync.
Sorry if I confused you. Also, I noticed that our documentation (and Kudu's as
well) uses the term "internal" table and "external" table. So may be we should
avoid changing it in this patch as well and continue using it. Sorry for the
back and forth.

> IMPALA-9092 added a new way to create external Kudu tables with the purge
> option. I think this could cause some confusion and it would be great to
> document this option.
