In case of implementing new APIs, can you please give some insight into why
they are needed and how (if at all) they will be used by the existing vector
classes?
It would be good if these can be properly documented in the PR or better to
send out to the mailing list highlighting the rationale behind implementing new
APIs and their corresponding consumers.
