 Review comment:
   Yes, I think chopping up the byte stream at arbitrary points has many more 
subtle complexities than splitting things up at element boundaries (for both 
the data stream and iterable elements), as well as being a non-trivial change 
to the public API of coders. 
   
   However, thanks for bringing to the list. I'll continue the discussion 
there; let's see what comes of that.
