I don't agree that the public domain stuff is handled correctly. The link you
posted isn't even close to the end of the thread. I didn't think we'd achieved
consensus on what to do.
It turned out that Adobe versions of these files are in SourceForge and thus
available to the public and thus Adobe is in a similar situation. So I asked
Adobe Legal about what to do about the Adobe versions. They care enough that
they have asked me to modify the Adobe versions although they say it isn't
urgent, and the modification they approved is the adding of a comment but
retaining the Adobe header. They did not accept the suggestion of removing the
Adobe header. They did not say I could just let it go without doing anything.
So, I will soon get around to making those changes to the Adobe versions, and
then it makes sense to me to make similar changes to the Apache versions
(Apache header and the same comment that I will write for the Adobe version. I
won't use Justin's text so that the comment is copyright Adobe) so that the
Apache version looks like it would if Adobe had donated a correctly attributed
version of that file.
Do others agree with this plan?
Then next week, I'll hit up Adobe Legal about what to do about the
not-so-public domain text and report back on their decision.
