Jakob Homan commented on GEODE-52:
----------------------------------
The position that author tags are helpful is a minority opinion at ASF (and one
which I disagree with), be prepared for pushback:
http://apache-nifi-incubating-developer-list.39713.n7.nabble.com/author-tags-td1335.html
The code is not the result of any one particular person, but rather is the
responsibility of the entire community. People come and go at ASF, there's no
need to assign control of one bit of code or demarcate fiefdoms within the code
to a particular person. Just FYI, as a PPMC Member, I would have problems
voting out a release that retained author tags.
> Remove @author tags from Java source

>
> Apache generally frowns on @author tags (as they imply ownership of the code
> by a single individual, see
> https://blogs.oracle.com/ahe/entry/coding_conventions_and_attribution [best
> asf link is not working, annoyingly] and
> https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AVRO/How+To+Contribute as an
> example)
