Mike Jumper commented on GUACAMOLE-1218:
----------------------------------------
I've found the old JIRA issue: https://jira.glyptodon.com/browse/GUAC-1482
("Discuss (and possibly merge) encrypted HMAC-driven authentication extension")
There was no reason cited _not_ to do this. The issue was simply closed as a
part of the JIRA cleanup when the overall Guacamole project initially moved
from Glyptodon to Apache, and from then on was just off the radar.
Just finished discussing this on the Glyptodon side and there are no objections
to moving forward. I think we just need to sign a software grant, send that in
to the ASF, and open a PR. For the sake of simplicity, we should probably do
that with the version of the code just prior to the contributor PR that I
mentioned earlier, and then ask that said contributor re-contribute that PR
against the guacamole-client version of the source tree.
> Move guacamole-auth-json into the main project.

> guacamole-auth-json is so nice! I started to dump some major time into
> starting to develop a custom auth extension which would have ended up as
> basically this but worse, only to stumble across it just in time. Why not
> distribute it as a binary and document it on the website with the other
> first-class citizen extensions?
