Sean Busbey commented on HBASE-13339:
-------------------------------------
To be clear, I'm not suggesting any policy change. I just want to be cognizant
of what impact our update will have, since this is targeting 1.1 and I want
that to be a low-risk upgrade. I'd also like a plan for how we're going to
solve the general problem (presumably in the 2.0+ time frame). I don't know how
strongly I feel about wanting that plan, because I don't know what we miss out
on by not upgrading.

> Current default Hadoop version is getting a little long in the tooth. We
> should update to the latest version. The latest version is backwards
> compatible with 2.5.1's dfs and mr so this should be painless.
