Andrew Purtell commented on HBASE-13339:
----------------------------------------
We might be hitting HDFS-7005 too. We are planning to upgrade to a Hadoop that
has a patch for HDFS-7005 applied, though it is not 2.6.
Anecdotally I hear 2.6 is an unstable release, and that some things are not
expected to be stable until some 2.7.x, such as the rolling upgrade feature.
All hearsay. Would welcome clarification from a Hadooper with better
understanding of the issues. But given this, if we could ask, and receive, a
2.5.3 release with HDFS-7005 then I don't think we need to move up to 2.6.

> Current default Hadoop version is getting a little long in the tooth. We
> should update to the latest version. The latest version is backwards
> compatible with 2.5.1's dfs and mr so this should be painless.
