bq. Not sure why you say Hadoop 2.5.x to 2.6.x is a "major" upgrade of Hadoop.

If there's no Hadoop upgrade to run from 2.5 to 2.6 and we do not have any 
other compatbility issues, we have nothing to discuss. Let's do it.

We _did_ have to run the HDFS upgrade from 2.3 to 2.6 if I recall correctly.
