FWIW Hadoop 2.7.1 RC0 is out. This fixes a large number of stability,
performance and functionality issues since 2.6.0. (2.7.0 was not a
production-ready release).

There is momentum in the Hadoop community around stabilizing 2.7.x. There are
no plans for a 2.6.1 release, however if anyone wants to RM 2.6.1 I don't think
there would be any objections.
