Rolling upgrades are not supported. You should follow the instruction under
<<upgrade2.0.process>>
and stop/start your cluster to upgrade.
If you simply cannot afford a stop/start of your cluster to upgrade, check out
the below rolling
`unsupported` upgrade prescription, from hbase-1.4.3+ to hbase-2.0.x (There may
be issues
rolling up to 2.1.x -- See HBASE-20788).
