Talked with [~zghaobac] offline, there is no way for a CP user to integrate its
own implementation of ReplicationPeer. That's why we give a default
implementation for the old deprecated method, which just calls the new method,
as the user may call the old method in the implementation of a
ReplicationEndpoint.
