--foo bar is just wrong.
Let me then change the arg to be -j JAR_FILE so I don't have to repeat the
'--foo bar' travesty (smile).
I love that there are as many ways of doing params as there are hadoop tools.

On the other stuff, yeah, running an hbase 'tool' dumps out fun stuff.... Let
me file issues for each of those you've identified as follow-ons.
