stack commented on HBASE-22804:
-------------------------------

Sounds good. Does it have to be an API or is it just a report the Canary dumps
after each run in a manner parseable by other tools? Or should Canary listen on
port and respond to queries replying in JSON w/ its current understanding of
what is up w/ the cluster?

Should it be a query you can run against the Master instead? Could ask the
Master to run Canary ops? It is always up so you could ask it for current
status?

Thanks.

> At present HBase Canary tool only prints the successes as part of logs.
> Providing an API to get the list of successes, as well as total number of
> expected regions, will make it easier to get a more accurate availability
> estimate.
