Yes, developers need to be able to specify with which username/password they connect to which database, folder, host, port, etc. What we usually do is check in an empty configuration file to make it easy to create a new environment to DTAP environments or your local docker. What was recently added is the ability to import all used variables in a project to allow you to more easily create this template configuration file.
