doc](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k4x8utgh41Sn1tr98eynDKCWq035SV_f75rtNHcerVw/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0)
it's optional, but in the [spec
PR](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/pull/16025) it's required. Maybe
@amogh-jahagirdar could give us more context.
