One compatibility risk to flag before I do: the current Java client actually sends Base64 here — its own test (`TestRESTSigV4AuthSession.authenticateWithBody`) asserts `x-amz-content-sha256 = "yc5oAKPWjHY4sW8XQq0l/3aNrrXJKBycVFNnDEGMfww="` for a non-empty body (hex only for the empty-body constant). So REST services that verify SigV4 against today's Java client are built around the Base64 form, and a hex-signed body may fail verification there until the Java client (and those servers) move to spec-hex as well. If you're fine with that risk — or we treat spec-hex as the target and fix Java in a follow-up — I'll switch the implementation and tests to 64-char lowercase hex. Just confirm and I'll push the change. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
