I've run the tests locally on Java 8 and Java 11 and I think the test
failure is unrelated. It seems to be some sort of HMS connection failure.
I'm also going to rebase to master locally and see if the current state of
the tests is an issue, but I think this is just a plain old HMS transient
failure.
