Let us please keep this issue for the newly proposed and designed APIs only.
For deprecation of something else, please open a JIRA and we can discuss there.
We have other mediums of communication (other JIRAs, dev list, user list,
slack, confluence etc.) for those issues.

Yes. Those collections don't use the _default configset, but their own copy of
it.
