Preserve build directory after cleaning

I feel the need to preserve e.g. project.build.directory folder after deleting
all files and folders within this folder by clean:clean.
Currently these default output folders are deleted entirely instead of beeing
cleared.
This could be configured by configuration section in pom or by a property.
