Please don't take any criticism or disagreement personally: I like you and your work, but there are parts I don't like, and they make for an interesting discussion. If the utility is not general enough to at least in theory be usable by others, then it's most likely also not general enough to be reused elsewhere in the code (except if it was copy-pasted from the first usage site).
