This is because you are using the OpenOffice provided by Mandriva.
The OpenOffice downloaded from www.openoffice.org installs always in /opt

I don't know if your system is 32 or 64 bit.
You have to download one of the files under "Full installation sets". IIRC
Mandriva uses RPM, so choose 

Linux Intel RPM - if your system is 32 bit
Linux x86-64 RPM - if your system is 64 bit

Extract the compressed file, it has a folder containing a lot of RPMs, the
easiest way is to install all of them, then install the package inside the
folder desktop-integration that suits Mandriva.
