Your method of invoking swriter from console is almost exactly what I did, since it did not start from the Mandriva menu. In fact, I navigated the console to the /opt/openoffice.org3/program folder and then invoked ./swriter, which should work the same way as your instructions. I have already uninstalled the build at the link you gave me, but I will gladly reinstall, just so I can send you the console display saying that the program needs glibc_2.11. My own suspicion would be that the link target was inadvertently changed. I did use the "full installation" tar. Is it possible that I need to install the -devel program for my version of glibc?
