NO, shitstorming programmers will have no positive impact. YES, we have libreoffice! It was noticeable that some long-open usability features *have* been addressed by the libreoffice fork. Although this issue surely won't be completed in one week, it may be possible that libreoffice folks at documentfoundation give higher priority to it.
