`new_incremental_scan(..., "auto")` resolves its mode from the table's `changelog-producer` option — `delta` when it is `none`, otherwise `changelog` — per `IncrementalScan::resolve_mode`. The Python binding doc instead said `auto` follows `incremental-between`, which is actually a *rejected* scan option, so a reader who set it to control `auto` would only hit an error.
