## What For shared disk cache whole-file reads, return a validated first block directly when it is shorter than the configured block size. Native fills publish complete blocks, so a short first block contains the complete file. This avoids a redundant source stat for hot small metadata files. Misses and full-sized first blocks retain the existing path. Other cache backends are excluded; checksum, namespace, and shared-generation checks remain in place. No new cache, format, or option. ## Validation - Tests cover cold fill/hot reads without the source, exact-block and multi-block fallback, and replacement from a separate process. - Focused I/O/cache tests are being rerun on current main. - Experimental 64-worker warm OSS JPEG-loading benchmark, 256 KiB shared blocks, 180s warmup + 180s measurement: 221.87 -> 281.60 samples/s; sampled anonymous memory 45.45 -> 47.66 GiB. Fixed time, not equal work; one sequential pair. Both arms include the separate BTree known-size optimization, but this patch does not depend on it. - Fixed Images planning diagnostic: source-stat calls 73 -> 1; 32 JPEG hashes/lengths match, no missing images. Cold-cache throughput and additional repetitions remain to be measured; no cold-read improvement is claimed. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
