If we (and by we I mean Jan and David, not me!) can sketch out what we really
want, then I could move forward with implementing that solution. The bandaid
is kind of complex, and doesn't move us forward to the future that we really
want. I think I would want this feature to be in the 10x line if possible,
just becasue we have a need for this. It could be a luceneMatchVersion or
"magic system property" to enable it.
I will say, I was sort of surprised that none of the /select were in the
ImplicitPlugins.json ;). I guess we all just take the solrconfig's from
techproducts or _default and just copy'n'paste them over and over.
Also, maybe if we get this moving, then the tombstone feature in SOLR-18078
wouldn't be needed?
