IMO it's safe to bring to 10.x. It's too internal.
RE "multiple"; I don't remember TBH but I was likely hedging in case some
advanced/unknown situation I couldn't see needed it.
RE {{@Deprecated}} vs {{@lucene.internal}}: The latter doesn't communicate a
belief that it shouldn't be needed anymore.
