yes, this is a case where you should not use mbsync's Trash.

you can just add -V to your mbsync command lines. the greeting response
from the server already tells you what it is.

to help you any further, i need your complete configuration (with only
the user credentials edited out). if you consider this too sensitive for
the public, send it in private.
