I apologize for my not being able to say exactly what
it was that you add to your HeaderFooter; indeed, it
is a Phrase.  For multiline, use something like:

HeaderFooter footer = new HeaderFooter(new Phrase
 ("line 1\nline 2"));

This is what Bruno was saying.
