I know it sounds like a cheap answer, but couldn't you just use the .net
component and expose that as a com object? Or use java api from your C++ app to
expose it?

The reason I suggest these cheap but simple ones, is the direct C# port of
iText. With all of the classes of the .Net framework at their fingertips, they
are still behind in the development.

With the exception of startup times, java and C# apps are fast enough to not be
noticed by end users.

Anyways, just an idea.
