at least Acrobat does not care that the resulting PDF file contains a Poscript Xobject. However saving this file in postscript format within Acrobat removes this xobject.
Correct.
Also, Acrobat 6 and later will also NOT pass PS XObjects through to the printing system.
So unless you have a closed system where you know the process used to print the document (or convert it to Postscript) - there is no point in using PSXObjects.
