You'll only find out if you compare the PDFs created with 2.1.7 to the 
PDFs created with 5.2.0 at the lowest PDF level (file structure and PDF 
syntax).
If it's an obvious difference, it could take you half an hour to find 
out; if it's a more subtle difference, it could take a whole weekend. 
(These time estimations assume you know PDF inside-out).
