Ah, so its that check mark you're talking about. I thought it was the one on the ribbon. No, the check mark on the signature itself is not there. Since Adobe Acrobat/Reader 9, signature status icons do not appear on the signature appearance anymore unless (as in your case) old, deprecated signature filters are used. Cf.
