Actually... i have seen this periodically so i doubt a new change in the
kernel landed that broke this, but more like a bug that has been around
a while that only shows up periodically.

It seems like we need a Devel area in gerrit/OBS to push changes like
this. Otherwise a zypper update has a higher risk in ruining my car.
