The “E640” is the product identifier for an Intel™ Atom© processor used in many Intel IVI systems. It was first introduced over two years ago. Two systems that use this processor are the NexCom VTC1000 and VMC1000.
This processor includes a “Power-VR” graphics core with proprietary technology from Imagination Technologies. The Linux graphics driver for this processor, which was included in Tizen is known as “EMGD”. This driver includes some freely redistributable binary user mode components covered by a proprietary license from Imagination Technologies. This binary is not open source. The “EMGD” team, working based on their product roadmap and customer demand decided to put this driver in “sustaining” mode in the end of 2012. This means they will not provide updates compatible with new versions of the Linux kernel or new versions of Mesa etc. As a result of this decision the last version of Tizen that includes this drivers was provided in September 2012, and can be found here: http://download.tizen.org/previews/ivi/tizen_20120918.16/ The EMGD team has no plans to update this graphics driver to be compatible with Tizen 2.0 or later versions which include newer versions of the Linux kernel and Mesa etc. The Tizen 2.0 (and later) releases will work on Intel processors that use “GENX” graphics core. This includes various “Intel™ Core©” processors and some yet to be released Intel™ Atom© processors. regards Joel From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of chiyeh Sent: Tuesday, April 02, 2013 6:38 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [IVI] Intel E640 graphic media accelarator Dear All, Did you have experience for this term?
