Thanks, Tomasz!

It works. Now the GUI screen shows up when booted. I'm using a normal VGA1 for
display out. So, I just comment out "mode=off" line in the file and reboot.

I have another newbie question. Anything I can do with this screen? It only
shows a pretty picture and time.

If I go back to a console, and launch a widget, e.g. wrt-launcher -s
GV3ySIINq7.GhostCluster, here is the result message, but nothing shows up on
the GUI screen.

result: launched
system-journalId[71]: Failed to write entry, ignoring: Argument list too long

How do I actually run a widget on the GUI Screen?

Thanks,
Meiyuan

Subject: Re: IVI-3.0-Oct11 does not boot to GUI Screen on NDiS166

2013/10/21 Zhao, Meiyuan <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>>
Hi There,

I'm new to Tizen IVI. I am trying to enable Tizen IVI 3.0 on my Nexcom NDiS166
box. I was able to boot up with the image, but not with the GUI screen. Need
any advice on what I should do.

Here's what I did:

Download image from download.tizen.org<http://download.tizen.org>:

http://download.tizen.org/releases/milestone/tizen/ivi/tizen_20131011.2/images/ivi-release-mbr-i586/tizen_20131011.2_ivi-release-mbr-i586-sdb.raw.bz2<http://download.tizen.org/releases/milestone/tizen/ivi/tizen_20131011.2/images/ivi-release-mbr-i586/tizen_20131011.2_ivi-release-mbr-i586-sdb.raw.bz2>

For installing the image, I did the following:

* Copy the image on an USB drive, which as a Fedora bootable

* Boot to Fedora via the USB drive

* Execute the following to burn the image on the hard drive directly

bzcat tizen_20131011.2_ivi-release-mbr-i586-sdb.raw.bz2 | dd of=/dev/sda bs=4M

When I booted up the system from the hard drive, I saw the GUI screen appeared,
and disappeared quickly. Then the system went back to black screen with the
following text:

[    2.502921] systemd[1]: Job smack-default-labeling.service/start deleted to
break ordering cycle starting with basic.target/start
System-fsck[74]: platform: clean, 20444/240000 files, 216091/959488 blocks
[    2.660231] hub 2-1:1.0: over-current condition on port 7
[    2.862094] hub 2-1:1.0: over-current condition on port 8

I can login to the system via a console, through Ctrl+Alt+F2. But the GUI
screen is nowhere to be found. Is there something wrong with the partitions?
Any suggestion on what I did wrong?

I succeeded in installing the Aug29 image on the same NDiS166 box in the past.
System booted to Wayland.

Thanks,
Meiyuan

Hi,
Check if you have correct configuration in /etc/xdg/weston/weston.ini

If you use standard VGA display output section should look like following:

[output]
name=VGA1
transform=90
#mode=off

# if you are using VTC7KDK+VGA, please also add these lines:
[output]
name=LVDS1
mode=off
