I have a very similar problem with ivtv-0.6.2 & linux 2.6.16.(9-18).
My system is a ppc machine:

I use a Hauppauge PVR-350 btw....

I also have an older debian with 2.6.15 kernel and ivtv 0.4.2,
there the card works - in pio-mode though.
(Is pio-mode still required for ppcs?)
