Thank you, very interesting results. BTW, just delete the line in vbi.c 
that prints all the 'read' lines, that's rather annoying. I've just now 
also removed it in svn.

When you do the test with SLICED_VBI_PIO=1, what is the CPU load like? 
What sort of PC in terms of performance are you doing the tests on?
